Honjima

You should bring drinks and snacks, as well as "what-if" items such as band-aids and medicines.
Convenience stores and supermarkets, which can be found everywhere in town, are very rare on the small islands across the sea. NaoshimaShodoshimaNaoshima have convenience stores. Some islands have no stores or vending machines. This is why the islands are filled with a peaceful atmosphere away from everyday life. Also, during the busy Setogei period, restaurants may be full and you may find yourself saying, "I can't get lunch! There are times when you may not be able to find lunch because the restaurants are full. It is a good idea to bring drinks and snacks with you. Especially during the hot summer season, take plenty of water with you. If you have a shoe rash and need to buy a bandage, be prepared to save your own life!

When going to the island of Marugame, you will mainly use "Marugame Port". By train, the nearest station to Marugame Port is JR Marugame Station. Exit the station through the ticket gates, take the left exit, and walk through the residential area and under the elevated railway tracks to reach the port in about 7 minutes (JR Marugame Station is about 30 minutes from JR Takamatsu Station). If you are driving, please use the "Marugame City Port Parking Lot" or other parking lots near the port. However, please note that the number of cars is limited during events. If the parking lot is full, you can use the municipal parking lot ("Fukushima Parking Lot", "Marugame Ekimae Underground Parking Lot", etc.) or nearby parking lots, but since it is a 5-7 minute walk to the port, it is best to allow plenty of time for the boat.

On the Marugame Port side, there are two ferry routes to the five islands of Marugame: one to Honjima and Ushijima, and the other to Sanuki Hiroshima, Teshima Teshima, and Teshima. To go to Honjima and Ushijima, please use the ticket office of Honjima Kisen on the left when you enter the Marugame Port Terminal building. ( Honjima is also accessible from Okayama Prefecture. To go HonjimaSanuki Hiroshima, Ko Teshima, and Teshima, please enter the Marugame Port Terminal building and use the Bishan Ferry ticket booth or vending machine on your right.

There are no convenience stores or stores on the island, so bring your own drinks and snacks. Be mindful of island life by making sure to take your garbage home with you, and spend time in a quiet environment.

Honjima accessible by foot, rented bicycle, or bus. Bicycles can be rented at the waiting area immediately outside Honjima Harbor and at some restaurants. The number of bicycles is limited, so it is recommended to take an early boat if you want to use them. The main spot "Kasajima Machinami Preservation Area" is about 1.8 km away, "Shiokaku Kushibansho Ruins" is about 800 m away, and "Kikarasu Shrine (Chitose-za)" is about 450 m away, and art works are scattered along the way, which can be visited on foot. Please follow the traffic rules when renting a bicycle, as buses and cars pass by on the island's roads.
