"Clack and Clatter, the Sound of Stones Tumbling with the Waves"
Teshima is about 10 km in circumference, and a 15-minute walk from the harbor on the east side of the island will take you to Nishiura Beach on the west side. If you look closely at this beautiful, gently arcing beach, you will notice that the beach is not made of sand but of countless cobble stones. Sitting on the small stones, which have been carved by waves over a long period of time, and looking out to sea, you can see the blue sea, the blue sky, and the islands of the Kasaoka Archipelago. The blue sea, blue sky, and the islands of the Kasaoka archipelago are all there. The sunset from here is also exceptional. If you listen carefully while gazing at the spectacular view, you will hear a hard sound that is mixed in with the sound of the waves. These sounds are created when stones collide with each other due to the force of the lapping waves. Enjoy a moment as if time has stopped while listening to the unique sound of the waves on the cobbled Nishiura Beach.
