Island Time Spot
A secret retreat you’ll want to keep to yourself
Located about 80 stone steps up the mountain from the village of Honmura in the eastern part of the island is the site of Takahara Castle, which was built at the end of the Warring States Period. Although there are no stone walls or other traces of the castle, white benches have been set up on the high ground facing east, providing a scenic spot from which visitors can view the calm Seto Inland Sea. This is a secret place in Naoshima, where both museums and restaurants are filled with tourists, where you can get away from the hustle and bustle for a little while and enjoy some peace and quiet. Reset your senses while gazing at the blue sea here, and then go on another art tour.
