From the Shrine Grounds, the Seto Inland Sea Unfolds in Majestic Splendor

Daishoji Temple, located on a higher ground in a village spreading out on a steep slope, is the best view spot in Takamishima. From the temple grounds, visitors can look out over the Seto Inland Sea and lose track of time as boats of all sizes pass by on the sparkling, calm waters. On the way to Daisho-ji Temple, there are many spots that make you want to take pictures of the old stone walls and elegant stone steps that remain in the village. Because of the beauty of the scenery, the temple was used as a filming location for the movie "Otoko wa Tsuraiyo" (Otoko wa Tsuraiyo). Passing through the bell tower at the entrance of the temple, you will see a carved wooden statue of Rikishi. This humorous statue of Rikishi is one of the highlights of Daisho-ji Temple, as he holds up the roof of the bell tower with a desperate look on his face.
