The Miso Cat of Ogijima Island Legacy Kamishibai:Stories for the Next 50years
Soon after I moved to the island of Ogijima, I met a cat. Its fur was brown and white, and it would always rub up against me, melting away the stress of everyday life.
The cat would sleep in an old warehouse , near the fishing port. I asked around, and one of the locals told me that that was where they used to make miso on the island. After I found this out, I couldn’t help but feel like the cat’s fur almost looked… miso-colored. And so, I was inspired to write a story by this warehouse and the cat. Apparently it’s actually pretty bad for cats to eat miso, but I still wanted this cat who lived in a former miso factory to finally have a chance to eat its fill of miso, if only in a story.
